7 Signs Your Website Is Quietly Losing You Customers

A bad website doesn't announce itself. It just quietly sends people to your competitors. Here are the seven signs to look for.

The scary thing about a website that's losing you customers is that it does it silently. Nobody emails to say "I bounced off your homepage." They just leave and buy from someone else. Here are seven signs yours might be leaking business — and what to do about each.

1. It's slow to load

If your site takes more than about three seconds on a phone, you're losing people before they've seen a thing. Fix: compress images, ditch heavy plugins, and get it properly built for speed.

2. It's a nightmare on mobile

Most of your visitors are on a phone. If they have to pinch, zoom and squint, they're gone. Fix: a proper mobile-first design — not a desktop site crammed onto a small screen.

3. Nobody can tell what you do

If a stranger can't understand what you offer within five seconds of landing, you've lost them. Fix: a crystal-clear headline that says exactly what you do and who for.

4. There's no obvious next step

Great — they're interested. Now what? If there's no clear "call now", "book", or "get a quote", they'll drift off. Fix: one obvious call to action, repeated down the page.

5. It looks dated

Fair or not, an old-fashioned site makes people quietly assume the business is old-fashioned too. Fix: a modern, clean design that matches the quality of your actual work.

6. The contact details are hard to find

If getting in touch takes more than a couple of taps, some people won't bother. Fix: phone number in the header, a simple form, and contact info everywhere it makes sense.

7. It's invisible on Google

If you don't show up when people search for what you do, the site isn't pulling its weight. Fix: the SEO basics — proper page structure, clear content, and a Google Business Profile.

Spot two or three of these?

Then your website is almost certainly costing you enquiries every week. The good news: every one of these is fixable, and often faster and cheaper than you'd expect.
